Our world has become polarised. For or against, pick a side, dig a trench. We are busy alienating each other in so many areas, and yet there are fights worth fighting. How are we going to remember when to dig trenches, and when to build bridges?

Solidarity

Lockdown is a limitation of our freedoms, and the reaction has been loud in some parts of our society. However you might feel about lockdown, there is a price that may be paid by others for asserting your own freedom at a time like this.

Harmful

Brexit split families and friends in the UK, and was plagued by misinformation and entrenched thinking. Whichever side of the divide you stand on, the process was harmful and the healing has barely begun.

Politics and Science

The political world is notorious for sticking to principles only as long as they serve an immediate purpose. "The science" has been the reasoning for many recent decisions, but how many cringing scientists do we really need to see with politicians hovering over their shoulders?

Born to Run

Wilderness is increasingly difficult to find; particularly in the UK where it sometimes feels like our towns and cities are merging into one continuous urban sprawl. Is "taming the wilderness" really a one-way street?
